Mary Ruth Kuczkir on Fern Michaels
Fern Michaels is the pen name of Mary Ruth Kuczkir who is considered to be one of the best living romance writers in the United States. She was born in 1933 and has sold more than 70 million copies of her books throughout her career. She has been writing romance novels from 1975 and continues to do so to the present. She is best known for her novels Crown Jewel, Pretty Woman and Family Blessings.
She has had over 50 best selling books throughout her career and has over 70 million books in print at any one given time. She was born in New Jersey but currently lives in South Carolina where she continues to pursue her writing career.
As is the case with many of those who write in the romance genre, she is the author of several series books. “Captives” was her first series and her first published book, Captive Passions was first published in 1977. There are four books in the Captive series that include Captive Embraces, Captive Splendors and Captive Secrets. Her next venture was the Texas series in which she wrote a series of books based on Texas romance that were very popular with romance readers in the 1980s. These include the popular Texas Fury which as published in 1989. She also wrote the Texas Trilogy omnibus in 1991.
