About Stephenie Meyer

You could not possibly have not heard of Stephanie Meyer; everybody who reads has heard of this author unless they have been living on a desert island for the past few years. She is the very popular author of the "Twilight" series that has taken the nation by storm. In 2008 alone, Ms. Meyer sold 28 million copies of the book alone. She was named one of the most "Influential People" of 2008 for the Twilight book that appeals to young and old alike.

The Twilight book a vampire love story in which a young woman finds herself in love with a vampire. Although the Twilight Series was written with young adults in mind, the book has also captured the attention of older individuals as well. "Twilight" was the best selling book of the year in 2008 when it debuted. "New Moon,' which is the sequel to "Twilight" just recently hit the theaters and drew crowds who clamored for the midnight showing of the movie that is based upon the second novel of the series.

"Twilight" is the first book written by Ms. Meyer. Prior to that, she concentrated on working as a receptionist and raising her son. She lives in Arizona although also owns a home in Washington State.

Meyer said that she got the idea for Twilight from a dream about a girl in love with a vampire and wrote it without the intention of getting it published. Her sister urged her to send it to various agencies where it was either ignored or rejected until she received a response from Writers House. The agency had eight publishers competing for rights to the book for which she received $750,000. It quickly rose to the top of the New York Times Best Seller List.

Twilight was published by Meyer in 2005 and is the first of the series. New Moon, published in 2006, Eclipse in 2007 and Breaking Dawn was published in 2008. New Moon became a best seller in the New York Times in the second week of publication.

Stephanie Meyer broke the record set by JK Rowling as the four books in the series have spent over 52 weeks on the top 10 in the New York Times Best Seller list. In addition to the millions of dollars she has made with the saga, she has been named number five by Forbes Hollywood's Top Earning Women and was named one of the most Influential Women of the Year in 2008 by MSN. She has also gained a huge fan following from young adult readers of the Twilight saga.

Meyer has a BA in English from Provo University in Utah, is married and has three children. She is 35 years old and the Twilight book were her first foray into the world of publishing. She has since published some short stories about "bad prom dates," although she has not yet discussed any future projects for the Twilight series. It is expected that the remaining two books of the series will be made into feature films, following the success of "Twilight" and "New Moon."

Stephenie lives in Arizona with her husband and three sons.
